  • Shown as a complete rig with Western Anatomical Pad (Merino Sheepskin underside w/6 shim pockets), Lakeview Pulling collar and Flank Cinch.
  • Wonderfully adaptable to the unique shape of your horse even as it's body condition changes with exercise--no need to keep changing saddles! With no rigid bars extending down along the horse's shoulders as with a traditional treed saddle, theses unique treeless saddles are adaptable to a wide variety of body shapes and conformations.
  • The unique "fixed" horn & pommel on the Colorado Springs treeless saddles (the "Memphis" having a rawhide covered horn). This allows the saddle to have greater over-all stability than the majority of treeless saddles, & retains the solid feel of a traditional horn & pommel while allowing excellent freedom of movement along the entire back & shoulders in lieu of a rigid tree. NOTE: Ample padding & structure is between the pommel and the horse. NOT to be used for roping, and only light ponying.
  • Synthetic fleece underside with shallow panels (gap the width of a hand, as indicated) on either side of spinal area. For added assurance for horses with particularly prominent spineous processes, using a Western Anatomical Pad with 6 pockets for target shimming/spinal protection is recommended.

Product Description

Revolutionary: a treeless saddle that FINALLY looks and feels authentically like a Western saddle!

Treeless COLORADO SPRINGS saddles look firm but still ensure efficient shock absorption and the weight of the rider is very well distributed.

With their unique pommel arch and cantle plate, they use advanced treeless technology to allow the horse uninterrupted movement along it's whole back unlike any other treed saddle. Totally flexible, they adapt to your horse's body type in a natural way, allows you to better feel your horse underneath you, and for your horse to be more aware of your seat cues. The flexibility and lightness of the saddle minimizes interference on your horse's strides and frees up their shoulders, therefore giving total freedom of movement without the hindrance of a rigid tree. Riding with a treeless COLORADO SPRINGS saddle gives the rider amazing close contact feel, a sensation that is unequalled with a traditional treed saddle.

Features of the "Denver" Colorado Springs saddle:

  • Crafted in smooth, quality, thick buffalo leather with hand tooled wavy grooves design on all edges & decorated with white stitching
  • Supple non-slip seat
  • Rounded skirts and fenders, ideal for shorter-backed horses
  • Deep & secure Cheyenne Roll cantle
  • Adjustable fenders with Blevins Buckles
  • Ample wither clearance with wide opening to accommodate even moderately high-withered horses
  • High density polyurethane foam padded seat & panels
  • Synthetic wool lined panels
  • Leather coated resin stirrups
  • Stainless steel and nickel plated brass rosettes and girth holder
  • Delivered with leather latigo and front off-billet, but no cinch (suggested western cinch to match can be found HERE on my site)
  • Less than 22 lbs, so extremely easy to hoist up on even tall horses!

NOTE: Fits a broad range of horses, particularly mutton or broad-shouldered horses. For atrophy, uneven-shouldered or sway-backed horses, proper shimming must be employed to bridge the gap/balance the saddle adequately while the horse rebuilds muscle. The Western Anatomical Pad with shim pockets is highly recommended for not only target-shimming, but adequate spinal clearance as well (in all circumstances) which traditional wool or felt etc. pads cannot offer. (3-Mesh target shims are highly recommended for cases that need extra fortification)

AND--BONUS!... for all those who have tried other treeless saddles on the market and have been frustrated with them rolling or sliding even when cinched snugly and mounting clean, you CAN mount from the ground with the Colorado Springs treeless saddles! With their fixed pommel and firmer construction than most other treeless saddles on the market, these amazing saddles lock down on your horse's back just like a treed saddle. Of course the use of a mounting block is recommended when possible as this is always easier on your horse's withers, but you won't be stranded when you have to get off out on the trail!

  1. Treeless saddle that looks and feels like a regular western saddle!

Posted by Unknown on 2023 Jan 2nd

Only 2 rides in my new treeless saddle and already confident it was a good buy. It fits like a glove and has the same stability and feel you would expect from a regular western saddle. A well constructed saddle that offers the flexibility for the horse to move unrestricted but still provides security in the seat for the rider. With this saddle I’m not compromising my horses comfort or my own and it will fit her no matter what season we’re in. Happy horse, happy rider!

  2. Helped my horse's back problem

Posted by Tanya on 2022 Oct 14th

I bought my horse 4 months ago and she had been ridden in a western saddle with too narrow bars while at the horse broker. Her back muscles would tighten and spasm if you put any pressure where the bars would sit. I bought the Colorado Springs saddle after many, many hours researching regular and treeless saddles, and I could not be happier! My horse's back problem has completely disappeared. I am also thrilled with the comfort of the saddle. I have ridden bareback my whole life and do not generally like the feel of riding in a saddle. I always feel so disconnected from the horse. However, after multiple shoulder injuries, I can't swing on like I used to, so I bought a saddle for rides that I have to dismount and mount again. This saddle is so comfortable. The stirrup leathers are soft (great for my bad knees) and the seat is very comfortable. I do not feel totally separated from my horse; the saddle seems to move better with the horse than regular saddles. That being said, it still feels super stable; I can mount from the ground, gallop, stop quickly etc and it stays put and offers the same feeling of safety for those who like riding in a regular western saddle. So happy I bought this saddle!

  3. This saddle is the perfect solution!

Posted by Karen from Ardrossan, Alberta on 2021 Dec 9th

I have a rather high-whithered Andalusian who is hard to fit with a traditional western saddle. I have a well fitted Dressage saddle, with an adjustable gullet and had it professionally fitted and flocked for a perfect fit. But my hirse is green and I really wanted a western saddle for a little more security for now. Adjustable fit options aren’t so readily available in western saddles unless I wanted to spend far more than my relatively modest budget would allow. The thought of buying and trying many used saddles was just too daunting..

I was lucky enough to have been able to try a Denver treeless saddle on my horse, complete with the shimmable anatomical pad, courtesy of a friend. It worked just fine and we could tweak the fit. It was comfortable, I felt secure, and I could get on and off as it was as stable on his back as a treed western saddle.

I decided that was my answer. Bonus is that I can also use the saddle on another horse I’m riding that is built very differently than my horse - surprisingly with the same shim configuration. The saddle doesn’t shift or roll while riding. I love it!

  4. Excellent quality

Very happy with the quality and the overall look of the saddle. It is very comfortable for me and seems to be conforming to my horse. Highly recommend the anatomical pad with shims if you are needing to fit swayback.

  5. Best treeless saddle on the market

Posted by Christean Ramage on 2021 Nov 21st

I bought this over six months ago and I’m absolutely in love. I can mount from the ground, nobody can tell it’s treeless, and it gets compliments everywhere we go. My horse is so soft and relaxed in this saddle and can really move out. She was a very difficult horse to fit a traditional saddle to. We even tried custom and it was a disaster. I’m so glad that I finally found this treeless saddle.

  6. Best Treeless I've ever seen!

I have a mare who has been a nightmare to fit a saddle.
I had been hunting for 2 years, tried everything from English to Aussie.
Nothing fit the bill, so my choices boiled down to custom or treeless.
Since my mare is now 18 years old, and I'm on a pretty strict budget, my only viable option was treeless.
Looking at treeless saddles, I was extremely disappointed with the look of them. Let's face it most are downright ugly.
When I found this beautiful, well-made saddle I was immediately impressed. It is indistinguishable from any other treed western saddle.
The first thing I noticed was it didn't squeak. Next, I found that I felt truly connected to my horse. She seemed to relax immediately and was able to soften her back. The first few rides were amazing. It is true that you can indeed mount from the ground in this fantastic treeless saddle.
I would highly recommend this saddle to anyone, whether your horse is hard to fit or not.
